Show - Farn-To-Harket Surfaced Road -Rears Completion The final link in the vital "farm to market" loop through northern Duchesne County is nearins; com-, com-, pletion. The graveling operation on ; this final strip of road, approximately approxi-mately 11 miles, is expected to be completed in early November, re-, re-, ports Wallace J. Stephenson, resi-j resi-j dent engineer at Duchesne for the Sate Road Commission of Utah. Oiling is to be done next spring. Construction of this new stretch I of road, which started some eight 15 miles north of Duchesne and continues con-tinues to Boneta, was commenced on May 9 under a $363,461.75 contract to Whiting & Haymond of Springville. Two hundred working work-ing days were included in terms of the contract for grading and bituminous surfacing of this link. The near 40-mile loop connects with U. S. Highway 40 five miles west of Roosevelt at the Ioka J: hue junction and at Duchesne. i Five projects were mapped for this "farm-to-market" road. A 3-I 3-I mile stretch from Boneta to Alta- (mont was oiled by state road forces for-ces in 1951. Also in 1951 the eight-mile eight-mile strip from Altamont to Upal-co Upal-co was completed under contract, fccther eight-mile route from : l'2'co to the junction with U. S. ; Ifchway 40 at the Ioka Lane was 1 fashed during the summer of J. 1S33. Construction of the new route from Duchesne over Blue Bench, slightly more than eight t ies, was contracted in 1954. |
