Show Special Letter From County Assessor As-sessor G. B. Workman, To the Taxpayers of Duchesne County With all due respect to our Honorable Hon-orable Superintendent and worthy School Board members, we would like to know where they are trying try-ing to take us. The new proposed tax levy for the schools and state, set by them and the State Tax Commission, for this year, is 19.75 mills higher than last year, which will mean $19.75 extra tax for each $1,000.00 assessed valuation. It also means', in revenue for an assessed valuation valua-tion of a little over $8,000,000.00 an amount of $160,000.00 above last year's take. Never in the history his-tory of our county has the levy been so high. This year they are asking for 38.75 mills for the schools. The county has only set 10.95 mills for the operation and maintenance of the county government. gov-ernment. The average levy for the county over the past seventeen years has been 14 mills, and for the schools, 18.47 mills average Last year the school levy was 20 mills. I say there is something wrong The amount asked for the schools is entirely out of reason and common com-mon sense. It is not justifiable and we should not stand for such gross misrepresentation. I have a lot of respect for the fine men on our school board have been led up a hi ut tk someone, somehow nd al -If the school levy ia5t 't 20 mills, why shoi M -yea'-39.75 mills this yS r lowed, this is what it', "if to the county, c&K business, of the count lowing comparisons beta?6 and the proposed iH. based on every $j H valuation: ' uo as.'
