Show $1,137,958 Budge? Adopted School Bisfrietf For Meiv Tersin CnSy $106,000.00 Will Come From Local Tax Funds; State Building Fund Is 5455,000 A $1,137,958 budget for the 1955-56 fiscal year has been approved ap-proved by the Duchesne County Board of Education, reports Supt. Rowan C. Stutz. This is the largest budget ever adopted for the Duchesne County School District. For last year, the budget figure adopted was $1,-045,600, $1,-045,600, but the revised budget amounted to $1,378,226, to include in-clude expenditures for the building build-ing program. Through misinterpretation of new finance laws affecting the school budget for the fiscal, year 1954-55, the school levy last year was lowered, and insufficient revenue rev-enue was available to meet' operational oper-ational expenses for the 1954-55 school year. As a result, a $57,000 deficit was created, Supt. Stutz. explained. The increase in the 1955-56 milf levy puts Duchesne County School' District finances back in line with: the new school finance laws enacted en-acted during the 1953 special session ses-sion of the Utah Legislature and partly correcting the local district budget error of 1954-55, Mr, Stutz said. From State Sources It is anticipated that $343,000 of the money from the operation of the schools for the coming year will come from state tax sources. Only $166,000 will be (Continued on Back Page) NEW SCHOOL BUDGET . . . (Continued from Page 1) raised by local taxation by a 20.15 mill levy, which is the largest part of the 35.15 levy, set by the local board of education. Balance' of money for operational expenses will come from federal funds (Indian and otherwise) and miscellaneous mis-cellaneous sources. During "the coming year, it is further anticipated that $455,000 of state building funds will be spent in the Duchesne County School District for additions and remodeling of school buildings at Roosevelt, Tabiona and Duchesne. This $455,000 does not affect the local levy, but does affect the total to-tal budget. Under the state building program, pro-gram, the Duchesne County School District is committed to put into the building program the full revenue rev-enue from a 10 mill levy for five years, Supt Stutz pointed out. Sums budgeted for 1955-56 are $21,008 for general control, $336,-700 $336,-700 for instruction, $34,000 for operation of school plant, $20,700 for maintenance and repair of school plant, $55,100 for auxiliary services, $16,700 for fixed charges, charg-es, $578,750 for capital outlay and debt service, $75,000 for school lunch program. Supt. Stutz said the 1955-56 budget increase represents but some $5,000 in operating expense which includes the normal' increase in teacher salaries and the salary of a new district staff member as guidance director. Chief budget increases are in the building program and for other oth-er capital expenditures, including purchase of new school busses. |
