Show Ninety-One Scouts Participate In Recent U.B.I.C. A total of 91 Cub Boy Scouts and Explorers marched in the Aug. 4 parade of the 1955 UBIC, representing 9 of the Basin's 75 Scouting units. Largest number of boys from 1 single unit came from Cub Pack 3250 of the Roosevelt stake, which had 24 of its members marching. Dens of Pack 3250 marching included in-cluded those of Roosevelt ward, Roosevelt Third ward, and Ballard. Bal-lard. Duchesne' Troop 268 was the only unit outside of the Roosevelt Scout District marching. District scouting officials from Roosevelt marching included District Dis-trict Chairman James E. Bacon and District Commissioner George Hacking, Units marching included Cub Pack 3250, Cub Pack 3253, Troop 268 of Duchesne, Ballard Troop 252, Myton Troop 253, Roosevelt Second ward Troop 250, American Legion Troop 700, Rosevelt Third ward Troop 750, Post 2750, and ten members of the Guide patrol of the Roosevelt stake. During the morning sessison of the UBIC Thursday, Aug. 4, several sever-al scouting units presented skits. Paul Murphy, vice-president of the Utah National Parks Council, conducted the session at the City Park in Roosevelt. Cub Scouts of Myton Dens of Pack 3253 presented a skit entitled, en-titled, "Cub Scout Foresters." Members of the Guide Patrol, led by Mrs. Erma Anderton, sang the Guide Patrol song. Johnny Johnson, Explorer from Vernal Post 2233, gave the bugle call's and four members, of the American Legion Troop 700 presented pre-sented the colors at the begining of the morning session. Special guest of the morning session, David S. King, Salt Lake City, told the story of Scouting and asked all present to give money, time, leadership, and standards stan-dards to youth, our greatest treasure. |
