Show MOTHERS HONORED Fifty mothers of Ballard ward attended the special program Sunday Sun-day in Sunday School which was given as follows: theme was "Honor "Hon-or Thy Mother;" a short talk by Supt. Fred Cook; scriptural reading, read-ing, Judy Brisbin:, talk, Darrell Ercanbrack; talk. Earl Winn;, quotations quo-tations from church authorities Larane Kettle. Carma White Aryl Gardner and Karl White; the "Joy of Motherhood" was given by Gareth Anderson. Corsages were presented to all. mothers present. Mrs. Wilmar Parrish entertained entertain-ed a group of twenty friends on Saturday evening at a delicious dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Allred and baby of Salt Lake City, spent Mother's Day with Mrs. Allred's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Squire. AM Relief Society members are invited and urged to attend a stake Relief Society meeting in the stake house, Friday afternoon, May 25th, at 2 o'clock. Stake conference will, be held at Roosevelt Sunday', May 20 and the bishop urges all members to attend. Mrs. Max Todd and two children chil-dren spent two days in Maeser with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Gardner, while Max was away overnight with the Scouts. Mr. and Mrs. James- Butcher and family of Evanston, Wyo., spent Mother's Day weekend with James' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Butcher. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Cook went to Vernal on Sunday afternoon after-noon to attend a birthday dinner for Mrs. May Anderson. Norman Mangum sent a birthday greeting to his mother, Mrs. Squire Mangum from the Philippine Islands. Is-lands. Earl Winn and daughter, Lonnie Kay, and one of Earl's sisters went to Salt Lake City to see their father, Lonnie Winn, who has been ill for some time. We were very happy to learn he is improving im-proving very nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Earl McKenna and small son were out from Provo Pro-vo to spend Mother's Day with their parents, the Gilbert McKen-nas McKen-nas of Roosevelt and the Russel Todds of Randlett. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kettle and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Anderson of Salt Lake City were callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kettle Ket-tle on Saturday. Misses Eva and Essie Sprouse of Salt Lake City spent Mother's Day weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sprouse. Miss Patsy Gines, who is attending at-tending school at the USAC at Logan, spent Mother's Day weekend week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ned Gines. We were very pleased' to see that Mrs. Effie Winn was able to attend Mother's Day program at Sunday School, after her prolonged pro-longed illness. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Crouch and two children of Roy, spent the past weekend with Mrs. Crouch's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alden White. Nineteen Scouts and Explorers enjoyed a trip to Heber and Midway Mid-way last Saturday. Clair Hollingsworth's first grade pupils presented a very good program pro-gram at Alterra on .Thursday afternoon. af-ternoon. Many of the mothers were in attendance at the program. pro-gram. Mrs. Jesse Hullinger accompany ied her husband to Salt Lake City last weekend, when the older students of Avalon enjoyed a trip. John Smith, Lawrence Adams and Mrs. Tullis of Vernal, worked in the Alterra kitchen on Saturday Satur-day doing repair work where the fire had been. "George Bracken received word of the death of his brother, Gar-old Gar-old Bracken's wife, at Flagstaff, Arizona on Monday morning. Gar-old Gar-old will be remembered by his friends in Roosevelt where he lived for a long time. This is the second wife Garold has lost. |
