Show High Grade Stock Exhibited At Altamont Show Among the four divisions of livestock live-stock shown at the 14th annual Moon Lake FFA Livestock Show were 35 blue (choice), 28 red (good), and only 18 white (commercial) (com-mercial) ribbons awarded. The outstanding out-standing class was the fat beef, in which there were 8 blue ribbons awarded out of a total of 20 entries. I In breeding beef there were 10 entries, dairy, 12; swine, 6; breeding breed-ing sheep, 12, and fat lambs, 20. Grand champions of the show were as follows: fat beef, Hereford, Here-ford, exhibited by Billy Shiner of Boneta;, beef female, Shorthorn, exhibited by Marvin Dudley of Jensen;, beef male, Angus, exhibited exhib-ited by A. B. Madsen, Duchesne; dairy female, Holstein, owned by Devon Andrus of Roosevelt. Fat lamb, cross-breed, exhibited by Roy Moulton of Myton; breeding breed-ing ewe, Suffolk, exhibited by Paul Monsen of Bluebell; breeding ram, Columbia, exhibited by Lyle Gomm of Mt. Emmons; swine female, Yorkshire, exhibited by John Per-cival Per-cival of Roosevelt; swine male, Poland China, exhibited by Craig Ross of Tridell;, and fat hog, Yorkshire, York-shire, exhibited by Laird Evans of Arcadia. Winners of the judging contest were Almia Moulton first, Ronald Dudley second and Marvin Dudley third. In the fitting and showing con test, Tommy Milburn placed first in dairy cattle, with Allen Rowley and Michael Lisonbee placing second' sec-ond' and third respectively. Kent Robison won the beef showmanship, showman-ship, with Loyd Lewis and Baird Evans coming close behind. In sheep, Scott Murdock placed first over Laird Hartman. The Uintah Basin Soil Conservation Conser-vation District gave $2.00 cash awards to the following boys for their honest efforts put into the fitting and showing of their animals: ani-mals: dairy, Steve Evans, James Lindsay and Robert Harris;, beef, Ronald Dudley, Clard Reay and Keith Lewis; sheep, Phillip Hul-Iinger, Hul-Iinger, Almie Moulton and Scott Murdock; swine, Baird Evans, John Percival and Tommy Milburn. Two Moon Lake Chapter awards were made during the afternoon. James Lindsay of Mt. Home received re-ceived a weiner pig for having the best project record book of the freshman voc. ag. class. The Suffolk Suf-folk purebred chain that Glen Mohlman of Altamont, started two years ago was continued by the awarding of a ewe lamb to Robert Iorg of Upalco. Lyle Oman, 1955-56 president, was the official announcer for the show. The judges were: beef and swine,, Elmo Hoyt of Kamas; dairy, Tommy Baum of Heber, and sheep, Frances Nielson of Altamont. Alta-mont. VARIETY CLUB MEETS The Variety Club met at the home of Rhea Lambert on Thursday, Thurs-day, May 10. Mrs. Dorothey Farns-worth, Farns-worth, club secretary, reported the club made around $60.00 on Elementary Ele-mentary Field Day. Pres. Edna Hartman explained this money would be used for playground equipment for the ' elementary school. The club will sponsor the Senior Tea, which will be held Monday, May 21. RETIRING OFFICERS ARE HONORED A party was held after MIA last week for outgoing officers of the MIA. Those enjoying the games were: Barnell and Barbee Buchanan, Rita Hansen, Lynn Hansen, Han-sen, Glen and Florence Mohlman, Anthon and Ona Rust, Lyard and Ilene McConkie, Bishop and Mrs. Mecham, Delorie Monsen, Hazel Reay, Vista Wall, Doyle and' Le-Ona Le-Ona Swallow, Lawrence and Alma Al-ma Young and Diane Hullinger. Refreshments were served to everyone and gifts were given to Mrs. Young and Mr. Rust. Mr. and Mrs. Don Evans and small daughter, Donna, left the first part of the week for Fort Ord, Calif. This will be their home until Don is discharged in September. Septem-ber. Forty - five family members gathered at the Bill Evans home Sunday for a well-planned turkey dinner. This was in honor of two grandmothers, Mrs. Anna Evans and Mrs. Edward Crosby. Mrs: Leonard Wall was honored Sunday when the following family members came home: Bob and LaRae La-Rae Stevenson and 3 boys, of Salt Lake City, Jay and Carolyn Wall and 2 boys of Bountiful, Mrs. Frances Price and 2 boys of Provo and Mrs. Norma Sears of Kerns. On Thursday, May 10, Brent Wall celebrated his ninth birthday with the following friends coming to the- party: Jeanice Williams, Carl Foote, Lynda Hansen, Lynda Harmon, Jeanice Dastrup, Jeanie McConkie, Blake Rust, Denny Lambert, Julie and Edward Mecham, Mech-am, Donald Monson, Paul Atwood and Brad, Sherry and Jo Wall. Jo and Sherry helped with the games and' refreshments. Grant Drollinger and Rex Han-berg Han-berg will leave Saturday with Coach Ken Bearden to compete in the Junior Pentathlon which will be held in Salt Lake City. |
