Show State Officers Attend BP 17 Convention Here " With Ellen Rawlings. director direc-tor of the eastern district of Business and Professional Women's Wom-en's Clubs, presiding, the district dis-trict convention held in Roosevelt Roose-velt last Sunday progressed with very successful results. Featured at the sessions were state officers, including C. Jean Shonka, of. Brigham City, president; presi-dent; Marcella Finlay. of Mid-vale, Mid-vale, first vice-president; Ada Burt, of Salt Lake Chy, second vice-president; and Jewell Jacob. sen,; of Logan, recording secretary. secre-tary. The convention commenced with registration at Union High School at 10 a. m., followed' bv some peppy community singing ied by Ida Harrison. A saxophone, saxo-phone, solo, was played bv Garth Tietjen, accompanied by Ella Watkins. An interesting report on the National Convention was given by the president. Miss Shonka. Miss Jacobsen then conducted a buzz session, after which the .group progressed to the Frontier Fron-tier Grill for luncheon and the ,afternoon meeting, where 35 B P W members from the district dis-trict assembled to receive a better bet-ter insight on B P W work. Miss Carolyn Whiting, of Neola Ne-ola .played a cornet solo, accompanied ac-companied by Phyllis Wardle. Again the group joined in community com-munity ringing, with Ida Harrisons Har-risons Vola Hancock favored the group with vocal solos, accompanied accom-panied by Virgie Murphy. A panel discussion ensued durinf! the afternoon session, led by Miss Burt, with members from Vernal and Roosevelt par-ticioating. par-ticioating. The convention was adjourned adjourn-ed by Mrs. Rawlings, who announced an-nounced that the state B P W convention will be held in Vernal Ver-nal in June.
