Show This Week's RECIPE . . . With deer hunting season nearing and winter just around the corner, busy housewives are thinking of making their fav; orite Mince Meat. The following recipe, submitted by Mrs. Hol-lis Hol-lis Hullinger, can be made with either venison or beef. Mince Meal 2V2 pounds of beef or venison 4 qts. chopped apples Vz pt. chopped suet 2Vz pints seedless raisins 1 pint currants Vz lb. citron 1 qt. sugar Vz pi. molasses 3 pints cider 1 tbs. salt 4 itbs. cinnamon 1 tbs. allspice 1 tbs. mace 1 tsp. cloves 4 tsp nutmeg Juice of 4 lemons Put beef or venison in larg" kettle. Cover with boiling water and cook 3 hours, water bubbling bubbl-ing at side of pan. Let meat cool in water with cover off. Grind or chop fine. Put all ingredients, except cider, in large pan and mix thoroughly. Add cider and let mixture stand overnight in cool place. In morning heat slowly to boiling point. Simmer gently 1 hour. Bottle and seal. |
