Show Demo Candidates Blast GOP Office Seekers Democratic candidates in Utah moved in the big artillery during dur-ing the last week and prepared a new barrage during the next seven days which will carry them into several counties. Rep. Walter K. Granger, Democratic candidate for the U. S; Senate, continued a blistering blister-ing attack against Sen. Arthm V. Watkins, his Republican op-.'pbnent, op-.'pbnent, as ije continued to brast the Senator's voting record on national defense and aid to our allies.' Rep. ' Granger, Mayor Earl J. Glade, Milton B. Taylor and Clinton D. Vernon accompanied W. Averell Harriman, Mutual Security Administrator, on a whirlwind tour of the state, which took them from Sc. George to Logan in two days. Mr. Harriman joined the attack at-tack against Watkins as he discussed dis-cussed our foreign policy and sang the praises of Gov. Adlai Stevenson. Mayor Glade gave several fighting addresses in his bid to take over the governorship, governor-ship, charging J. Bracken Lee with failing to advance Utah' educational record and adding the charge of "the big lie" to the governor's administration. The Mayor said the Governor has employed the Kremlin technique tech-nique of repeating untruths over and over until the people finally final-ly believe them. "I'm going to blast these lies," Mr. Glade promised. "I've already al-ready proved Gov. Lee is incapable in-capable in the field of education educa-tion and I'm going to destroy , , the myth that he has been employing em-ploying " a true economy pro-, gram." Mr. Taylor, candidate for secretary sec-retary of state, and Mr. Vernon, seeking reelection and attorney general, added a few licks for themselves and fellow candidates candi-dates as the campaign - party drove swiftly through the state. Large crowds were on hand at each stop, and Milton L. Weilenmann, Democratic state chairman,, predicted the tour" "swung hundreds of votes to the Democratic side." ."A lot of voters had not heard the real truth about the records of such men as Sen. Watkins and Gov. Lee," he said. ."They discovered more about our national na-tional ticket, too, from a man who is regarded internationally as a competent, brilliant executive. execu-tive. Mr. Harriman and the rest did a great deal to enhance the victory chanpes of the Democratic Demo-cratic Party in Utah." Activities for the week beginning be-ginning Wednesday, Oct. 8, will be climaxed on Oct. 14. when Gov. Stevenson will appear in the Salt Lake L D S Tabernacle.
