Show BASIN BRIEFS The Roosevelt stake conducted a temple excursion to Salt Lake City last Friday. Among those from Roosevelt vho took part in the excursion were Mr, and Mrs. Louie Galloway, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Swain, Mr. and Mrs. Randall Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Elvyn Bascom, Mr. and Mrs. Hol-lis Hol-lis Hullinger, Mr. and Mrs. Mur-el Mur-el Benson, Mr. and Mrs. LaMont Nielson and Mr. and Mrs. James Patterson. . Bernice Palfreyman, county home extension agent, motored to her home in Sorineville last weekend. She was accompanied by Mrs. John Swenson, also a former resident of Springvillc, and by Mrs. Howard Ivory, who went on to visit in Fountain Green. Mrs. Van Wall, of Salt Lake City, is visiting here with her sisters, Mrs. W. H. Ruppel and Mrs. George Harrison. Mrs. Gladys Davis, of Salt Lake City, is visiting here at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Abplanalp. Van Winterton attended the Hereford auction in Richfield last week. - Mrs. Ershal Shepherd and children, of Provo, were guests last weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Galloway. Mrs. Shepherd is a daughter of J. Austin Pack. Hebe Allred, now a resident of Salina, was a Roosevelt visitor Thursday. Hebe is departing for California soon to engage in a business venture. (He still considers con-siders the Uintah Basin home.) Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Manwar-ing, Manwar-ing, of Salt Lake City, former Roosevelt residents, attended the Ballard ward reunion, Saturday evening. They were guests over Sunday at the home of their I daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elvyn Bascom. Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Hullinger left here Thursday, Feb. 20, to attend the Roosevelt stake temple tem-ple excursion in Salt Lake. Tfcey visited in Provo before returning home Saturday evening. The Roosevelt Wildlife Con servation club, along with the other fish and game groups of the. state, continues to stand by its guns in opposition to House Bill 150 and the proposed amendment to section 30-0-11 of the Utah game code. Jack' and Mrs. Zimmerman have just returned from an extended ex-tended trip into British Columbia, Colum-bia, down the Pacific coast, into Arizona and New Mexico. I Ray E. Dillman and Earl Dill-man Dill-man attended court in Vernal, Monday. Mrs. Francis K. Smith left for Salt Lake City, Tuesday, where she will visit for a short time with her sister, Mrs. Nettie Kir-kendall, Kir-kendall, while taking treatments for her eyes. Mrs. Thomas Campbell, of Murray, was a guest at the home of Mrs. Harold Gardner last week while visiting friends and relatives in Roosevelt. Mrs. Campbell was formerly Eve Workman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Workman, who were 'former residents of Roosevelt. Sunday Night Program The Vernal First ward presented present-ed a very interesting and enjoyable enjoy-able program at the Roosevelt ward Sacrament meeting Sunday evening. Hollis Hullinger, of the Roosevelt ward bishopriCj conducted con-ducted the meeting. Community singing was led by Mrs. Lela Labrum, accompanied by Elaine Hullinger at the organ. or-gan. The invocation was offered by Alex Sullivan. Avard Rigby and Mrs." Meda Walker sang solo numbers, accompanied by Mrs. Mary Manwaring, and trio selections selec-tions were sung by the Walker sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Noel, Mrs. Carol W. Brady and Miss Marva Walker, accompanied by Mrs, Meda Walker. Speakers were Mrs. Evelyn Richardson. Arthur Manwaring and Warren Richardson. Richard-son. Thomas R. Todd offered the I benediction. I Following the meeting, the j Walkers, who are sisters of Frank Walker, principal of the Roosevelt Seminary last year, and Mr. Rigby sang a number of selections at the request of the members of the ward. The program was greatly appreciated ap-preciated and much enjoyed. Avard R. Rigby, assistant superintendent su-perintendent of the Uintah county schools, was in Roosevelt, Wednesday, in connection with his duties as Uintah Basin coordinator co-ordinator of the Veterans on-the-job training program, i Rhea Bracken and Afton Bingham, Bing-ham, who have been working in Vernal for the past several months, left for Salt Lake last week, where they now have employment. em-ployment. Change In Sugar Rationing Spare stamp 53, currently valid val-id for five pounds of sugar, will expire March 31 instead of April 30, the OPA has announced. The new stamp, valid on April 1, will be for ten pounds of sugar instead of the usual five. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bingham and Mr. and Mrs. Leland Bingham, Bing-ham, of Salt Lake City, visited over the weekend at the home i of their father, Charles Bingham. Horace L. Ritchie, of Heber City, is spending a few days in Roosevelt on business for the Standard Oil Co.
