Show Couple Feted On Anniversary Of Golden Wedding Commemorating their golden wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Allen were hosts to their friends at an open house at their residence in Roosevelt, last Tuesday. Assisting at the reception re-ception were: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Snyder, Mr. and Mrs. Art Allen, Miss Helen Redmond, and Mrs. Allen's sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Snyder. About 35 guests, old friends and members of the family, fam-ily, called during the afternoon. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Allen Al-len were guests of honor at a family dinner at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Snyder. Those present to pay honor to Mr. and Mrs. Allen as they approached their golden wedding anniversary anniver-sary were: Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Ellingsford and family, Salt Lake;-Mr. and Mrs. Art Allen and family, Roosevelt: Mrs. Elizabeth Eli-zabeth Snyder and Hiss Helen Redmond, Roosevelt. All of the children of Mr. and Mrs. Allen were represented at the Sunday gathering, plus Mrs. Allen's sister, a niece, and the seven grandchildren of Oscar and Mrs. Allen. Oscar Allen was born in St. ( Elmo, Fayette county, Illinois, in 1874, a son of George E, and Celia Jane Allen. Left an orphan or-phan at the age of six years, Mr. Allen was raised in the soldier's orphanage near Perigo, Colorado. Mrs. Allen was born in Buchanan Bu-chanan county, Iowa in 1873, a daughter of John and Mary Jane 1 Cummings. Her family moved to j Perigo, Colorado during her younger years, and it was there that she met Oscar Allen. They were married at Perigo on Feb. 25, 1897. Mr. and Mrs. Allen resided in Perigo until 1912, when they moved to the Uintah Basin, settling at Whiterocks where Mr. Allen engaged in farming and mining until eight years ago when they moved to Roosevelt. Mr. and Mrs. Allen are the parents of three children, Mrs. . Ethel Ellingsford, Salt Lake;' Mrs. LaVern Snyder and Arthur Allen, of Roosevelt. They have seven living grandchildren. |
