Show Red Cross Chapter Sets Annual Fund Drive For March The annual Red Cross fund drive will get underway March 3, and continue through March 8, with a goal of $1000 being set for the local Red Cross district, announced Ellen Rawlings, chairman chair-man of the Roosevelt branch of the Duchesne county chapter of the Red Cross. The Roosevelt branch of the county organization includes: Roosevelt, Neola, Myton and Montwel. In outlining the purpose of the drive, Mrs. Rawlings stated that if the full quota is met $800 will remain in Duchesne county for local charitable purposes. The remaining $200 will be forwarded forward-ed to national headquarters to augment the national fund. "Last year," said Mrs. Rawlings, Raw-lings, "58 charity cases were handled by the local branch of the Duchesne county chapter. The majority of these were people who are residents within the jurisdiction of the Roosevelt Roose-velt branch. Transient cases were few and far between." A Red Cross director from the regional office of the organization organiza-tion at San Francisco, met with the local chapter and branch officers, of-ficers, Tuesday, to outline plans for the forthcoming fund drive. The visiting official emphasized the need for an intensified local campaign which would assure the Red Cross of its quota in the Roosevelt branch. The groundwork for the 1947 drive was laid at a recent-meeting of the Duchesne county chapter .when Earl.Dillman was appointed fund chairman for the Roosevelt branch campaign. Dill-man Dill-man will be assisted by the following fol-lowing who will make a house to house canvass during the week of March 3 to March 8: Mrs. John Bourne, Mrs. Orson Stevens, Stev-ens, Mrs. Presley Timothy, Mrs. Clem Labrum, Mrs. Marvel Niel-son, Niel-son, Mrs. Floyd Labrum and Mrs. Howard Andrews. Solicitors Solicit-ors to contact homes in Neola, Myton and Montwel will be named nam-ed at a later date. Theron Leavitt and Merlyn Reynolds have been appointed to conduct the job of soliciting the Roosevelt business district. At the recent . Red Cross chapter reorganization meeting held in Duchesne, Ken Aycock, Duchesne, was appointed county chairman, with Ellen Rawlings being named to the post of first vice president. Mrs. Fred Ferron was selected to serve as home service chairman, and Mrs. Hil-der Hil-der Johnstun, assigned the chairmanship chair-manship of the Duchesne branch fund drive. |
