Show Alpine News Mrs. Leonard Bates, Reporter Impressive funeral services were held in the ward chapel Saturday afternoon for Claud C. Strong, who passed away suddenly Tuesday morning of a heart attack. Counselor Coun-selor Earl M. Devey was in charge of the services. The opening number num-ber was a solo by Mr. LeRoy Frisbie of Salt Lake City, accompanied by his wife. The invocation was offered offer-ed by Lyman Moyle. A duet was rendered by Mrs. Af ton Bair Cleverly Clever-ly and Miss Laura Hatch of Bountiful. Bounti-ful. A biographical sketch was read by Mrs. May H. Marsh, which was followed by a solo by Mrs. Bertha Clark and a piano solo by Mrs. Clyda Bair Richins. The first speaker was President Clifford E. Young, who was followed by a solo by Forest Bair of Bountiful, and a musical trio by Mrs. Frisbie and daughters of Salt Lake. The next speaker was Bishop E. W. Burgess. Closing remarks re-marks were made by Counselor Earl M. Devey and the closing song was "Going Home" by Mrs C. E. Young. The benediction was pronounced by Richard P. Carlisle, and the grave in the Alpine cemetery was dedicated dedicat-ed by Davis J. Strong. The chapel was filled to capacity with relatives and friends of the family and the floral offerings were many and very 'beautiful. Many out-of-town relatives and friends attended. Miss Fern Wilkin spent several days last week a Logan attending a special course on 4-H club work, given at the Agricultural College. Mr. Harold Kolstad and two chil dren of Compton, California, joined his wife here Saturday where she has been visiting for the past month with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Healey. After a short vacation vaca-tion Mr. and Mrs. Kolstad and children chil-dren will return to their home. Mrs. Eva F. Jensen of Emery is .visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Forbes. Miss Ruth Forbes, who has spent the past several seve-ral weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Jensen at Emery, has returned to her home here. Mrs. Mattie Larsen and daughter, Barbara, of Castle Dale, arrived last week for a short visit with Mrs. Lar-sen's Lar-sen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Davis J. Strong. Mrs. Larsen visited with her parents a short time and also attended a " Postmasters convention at Provo and returned to her home at Castle Dale. Miss Barbara remained re-mained for a longer visit. After a week's visit with her parents, par-ents, Mrs. James A. Grant and little lit-tle daughter, left with Mr. Grant Saturday morning for Circleville where they will make their home for the summer, Mr. Grant being employed there. Mr. F. C. Clark, our oldest citizen is confined to his bed. His many friends hope for his speedy recovery. Sunday morning the Sunday School Superintendency was reorganized reor-ganized with H. A. Smith as superintendent super-intendent and Fred Strong and Bair as assistants. Sunday evening the Y. M. M. I. A. was reorganized with Joseph L. Bair as president and George Z. Mc-Daniel Mc-Daniel and Dale Burgess as counselors. |
