Show Missionary Tendered Farewell Fare-well Social An interesting program was given at the missionary farewell social for Miss Ann Clayson Wednesday evening. eve-ning. A large group of students from the Brigham Young University, the family members and many of the local people were in attendance. Elmer Chipman of the Stake Missionary Mis-sionary Committee was in charge of the program which was carried out as follows: congregation singing "Shine On"; prayer, Bishop Joseph H. Storrs of the Second ward; ladies quartet from the Third ward singing sing-ing "Soft Winds Coming From The Sea". Quartet members were Helen Parker, Vivian Lee, Ellen Walker anil Grace Parker, accompanied by Helen Devey. Remarks were made by Eli J. Clayson, Mrs. Orval Benson who with her husband, Bishop Benson, of Whitley, Idaho, are making the mission possible, and Bishop Shelley who spoke of the loss the ward feels at this time but of the honor of being be-ing represented by one so capable as Miss Clayson. Miss Mildred Chip-man Chip-man and K. J. Bird sang "Homing" by Teressa Del Riego. They were accompanied on the piano by Lydia Olsen. Following remarks by Miss Clayson, Clay-son, Miss Beth Paxman of Provo gave three readings. "All For You" was sung by Miss Lota Paxman of Provo. Two violin solos were played play-ed by Ann who has just graduated from the B. Y. U. where she majored in music. President Clifford E. Young was the next speaker. He spoke of the sacrafice Ann is called upon to make at this time when it seems that her career in music is just about to start. He expressed himself that she will fill an honorable honor-able mission and return to her work here satisfied that she has done the right thing and has received great benefits. Ralph Briggs then sang "Danny Boy", accompanied by Miss Florence Todd, both of Provo. Prayer Pray-er was offered by West Hammond. Miss Ruth Halverson of Long Beach, Calif., gave two special dance numbers following which the remainder re-mainder of the evening was spent in dancing. |
