The usual activi- I i ties were enjoyed and a tasty lunch ! was served. The guests of course were in costume. ' Visitors at the public library are pleased with the fine appearance j this institution presents following the annual clean-up. Under the di-j di-j rection of James Hallsey the reading j room has been entirely redecorated. redecor-ated. All shelves and furniture have been varnished. The rest of the building has been subjected to a thorough cleaning and everything is spic and span for another year's use. Mrs. Howard Timpson entertained the Deltha Dames Wednesday after, noon at her home in Provo. Besides club members there were present Mrs. Arza Adams and Mrs. Eldon Chipman. The club prize in bridge was won by Mrs. Lloyd Tregaskis and the consolation prize by Mrs. Chipman. Late in the afternoon a dainty lunch was served at the small tables. Local Items Mrs. Adair Bromley will be hostess hos-tess this afternoon to the members of the Variety Club at her home. F. Houston. Mrs. V. F. Houston will entertain the members of the Lawata Club this afternoon at her home. Mrs. Philip Greene was brought home this week from the Lehi hospital. hos-pital. She is steadily improving and is able to sit up some now each day. Mesdames K. J. Bird, Joseph Walton Wal-ton and Lloyd Adamson accompanied accom-panied their husbands to Salt Lake Thursday afternoon and remained during the U. E. A. convention Friday Fri-day and Saturday. A delightful Hallowe'en party was held at the home of Sherman Var-ney Var-ney Thursday evening. The rooms were prettily decorated in keeping with the season. Games were enjoyed, en-joyed, Miss Maxine Chilton winning the prize. Those attending were Joan ureene, Jess Greene, Charlotte Chipman, Roxana Strong, Shelda Hamlet, Morris Bateman, Merril Preston, Maxine Chilton, Bob Za-briskie, Za-briskie, Geraldine Greene and Eugene Eu-gene Varney. The Just-si-Mere Club members and several special guests enjoyed themselves immensely, last' Friday afternoon at "the home of Mrs. J. E. Greene. All guests came in costume and a great deal of merriment was caused. Mrs. Ann L. Chipman won the prize for' the cleverest costume. "Spooks" was played during the afternoon, af-ternoon, Mrs.,Vilate Clark winning first prize and Mrs. Elida Durrant the consolation prize. A delicious chicken dinner was served by the hostess. The fourth birthday of little Miss Connie Robinson was the motif for a party given last Saturday afternoon after-noon by her mother, Mrs. STierman Robinson. Hallowe'en decorations and favors added to the fun. Games appropriate for the occasion were enjoyed by the children and a tasty lunch was served. One important item was the decorated birthday cake. Those present were Carolyn and Richard Carter, Kent and Harold Har-old Tolboe of Provo; Marilyn Davis, Lehi; Cathleen Devey, Buddy Wing, Janice Chipman, Nancy, Edith and Colleen Moss, La E-ae Robinson, Elaine Brown and Wilma Ellison. S. L. Anderson and son, Miles, of Nephi, were guests for dinner Tuesday Tues-day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Orval L. Snow . and daughter of Elmo, were visitors last week-end here with Mrs. Snow's parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Sprat-ley. Sprat-ley. Mrs. James A. Bowlden of Salt Lake spent last week here with her sister. Mrs. Stephen T. Shelley, and in Pleasant Grove with another sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Sanford Walker. Relatives and friends in American Fork received announcements last week of the birth of a baby boy to Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Stewart of Salt Lake, formerly of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Chipman are receiving congratulations over the arrival of a baby daughter, born Friday, October 30th, in the Lehi hospital. Mother and baby are doing do-ing well and Harold is certainly one proud daddy. Thursday afternoon the Ladies Literary club met at the home of Mrs. Elodia Roberts. Miss Maud Hardman, instructor of art at the TJ. of TJ., gave a very interesting, as well as educational, talk on art appreciation. A reading was given by Mrs. M. H. Ingersoll. The hostess host-ess served a tasty lunch. Mr. andJ. Mrs. Leon Whipple and son of Ogden spent Saturday and Sunday here, visiting Mrs. Whipple's mother, Mrs. Emma Foster. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Grant were among the guests at a Hallowe'en costume party given by Elmer Loveless Love-less and "Kelly" Dusenberg at Rainbow Rain-bow Gardens in Provo last Saturday Satur-day night. Next Wednesday afternoon the Ladies Auxiliary to the Woolgrow-ers Woolgrow-ers association will meet at the home of Mrs. Sidney Nicholes Sr. A short program will be given and other social activities enjoyed: in honor Friends of Mrs. James H. Pulley will regret to learn that she is confined con-fined to her bed with illness. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Heiselt had as their guests for several days from Los Angeles, Mrs. Heiselt's father, Mr. Wilson, and wife. Thursday afternoon the Missionary Mission-ary Society of the Community Church met at the home of Mrs. Fred Schettler. The lesson was given giv-en by Mrs. Elmer Bezzant. Mrs. ISchettler served her guests with a tasty lunch. The G. A. club met Thursday night Mrs. Relva, B. Ross returned hoir to Salt Lake City Friday last, aft a week's visit here with her parent Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Mrs. Fern Nicholes left Sunday for Logan after spending the weekend week-end here with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nicholes. Her son, Paul, also returned re-turned Sunday to the missionary home in Salt Lake City, where he is taking training preparatory for labors in the Swiss-German mission for which he leaves next week. Friends of Kenneth Foster will be glad to learn that he is recovering recover-ing nicely from an injury sustained some six weeks ago. Mr. Foster, 1 employed in Bingham, had his foot ', crushed and infection set in. He ; has been in St. Mark's hospital but . expects to be released in the very near f uture. at the home ol Mrs. c j. iooaaii. An interesting talk on child delinquency delin-quency was given .by Mrs. Mabel Jones, district nurse. The serving of a tasty lunch completed the evening's eve-ning's entertainment. Lloyd Hansen and two daughters, Helen and Frances, spent several days last week here from Monti-cello, Monti-cello, guests at the home of Mr. Hansen's sister, Mrs. Reed Robinson. Robin-son. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Grant motored mot-ored to Ogden Wednesday where they attended that evening a wedding wed-ding party given in honor of Mrs. Grant's brother, Carl Andreason, and bridp. Thursday night a wedding reception was given in "Vineyard by the parents of Mr. Andreason, to which invitations were received by a number of friends in American Fork. The ladies of the Just-A-Mere club and some special guests were entertained delightfully last Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. E. Greene. It was a Hallowe'en costume cos-tume affair and all present derived a great deal of amusement at th" variety of costumes. Mrs. Ann L. Chipman was awarded the prize for the cleverest.
