Show Minute Bible Stories BY C. V. HANSEN AT THE WELL When Abraham's servant came to the well by the city of Nahor, he camped, and then called upon the Lord and said: "O, Jehovah, the God of my master, Abraham, send me I pray thee, good speed today, and show kindness unto my master. Behold, I am standing by the fountain foun-tain of water, and the daughters of men of the city are coming out to draw water; and let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink, and she shall say, drink, and I will give thy camels drink also; let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant, Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou has shown kindness unto my master." Before the servant had finished praying, a beautiful maiden came upon the scene, whose name was Bebekah. She went to the well and filled her pitcher, which she carried upon her shoulder. As she came away, the servant approached her for a drink. She complied with his request very readily, and also offered to draw water for his camels. The servant then put a ring of gold upon her finger, and bracelets for her wrists, and was then invited to go with her to her home. The servant serv-ant then praised the Lord, for his kindness to his master Abraham, as the prayer was answered in the affirmative. af-firmative. Gen. 24. |
