The students returned from the region tournament last week with a triumphant win over St. Joseph, the Utah School for the Deaf and Manila. Although Jackie Fox did not qualify for the state finals, she received a good rating from the judge for her presentation of The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. On a lighter note, both Mary Morrison and Stephanie Cochrane qualified for the state competition in the humorous .. interpretation, cate-, gory. Pam Finegan' s pantomime, entitled entitl-ed "The Escape," received a superior rating and earned first place in her category. Stacey Jacobsen and Jennifer West also qualified to compete in the state pantomine division. Foreign exchange student Monica Hervias topped the region mono act with a scene from "The Man of LaMancha." Her classmates, Julia Limpert and Ron Matthews, helped to sweep the mono act competition by winning second and third for their monologues from Euripedes and "The Rainmaker." The talented Park City students also sewed up the duo act competition. Holly Elkins and Annie Harris teamed up to win first place with a scene from The Glass Menagerie." Jaana Eskolin and John Garner earned second place by re-enacting a scene from "Terms of Endearment." Endear-ment." Carter Waller and Matt Wakefield completed the winner's circle with their presentation of "The Psychiatrist." In all, Park City High School earned 43 points, leading second place winner St. Joseph's by 18 points. |
