Show Problems of the 'forgotten many' Editor: I think the Park City Manager, Arlene Loble, made a lot of sense when she talked about the influence local and 'bedroom' residents might have at the Park City and county polls. Someone needs to take notice of the locals' needs and being realistic realis-tic about the problems and frustrations frustra-tions we face with the tourist trade helps us feel we're a legitimate part, an integral part, of this community. Somewhere, in the back issues of this paper, mention was made of the escape of shopping dollars to the valley. Any mention of a reasonably priced clothing or department store around here brings forth cries of treason. Tell me, how are we not supposed to feel like the forgotten many? We love this place too, have made our homes here, play, volunteer... pay taxes here. If it's all that offensive to build something that's visible to the Park City side of Synderville, why not something near Silver Creek? It would be a nice addition to this area, keep a few more dollars in the area and the tourists need not even know it's there. I'm glad someone knows and realizes the problems that the so-called 'locals' have, however I don't have much faith that anyone will really address the issue. Sign me a somewhat irritated resident of the Park City area. Carol Olson |
