Show St. George Museum Looking for Hot Art Two paintings have been taken from an exhibit on display in the art gallery of the Fine Arts Center at Dixie College in St. George. The loss occurred in the evening hours of January 4 and just hours after the show opened. According to Gerald Olson, gallery director, the missing paintings are by renowned artists, Edith Bergstrom and Jerry Juhriman; Berstrom's "Palm Pattern 59," a watercolor of the trimmed trunk area of a palm tree, done in earth tones and measuring 22 x 30 inches and Fuhriman's "Fourth Mesa," a landscape using blue and grey tones and measuring approximately 35 x 40 inches. A similar loss occurred November 30, 1981, when an oil painting by Gordon Cope and two Mahonri Young etchings and a woodcut disappeared. Both incidents took place on Monday evenings. If anyone has information that can help in the recovery of these art works, please contact Don Reid at the Dixie College Security office, 673-4811, 673-4811, ext. 325. |
