Show Time Share and Business License Hearings Tonight The City Council will entertain two public hearings tonight Thursday, January 22 to consider an ordinance governing time share practices practi-ces in Park City and another ordinance revising the municipal muni-cipal business license fee schedule. Briefly, the proposed time share ordinance prohibits time-share developments in residential zones, establishes establish-es procedures for converting existing projects to time sharing and regulates to some extent the business practices surrounding time share sales. The business license ordinance ordi-nance is designed to generate gene-rate approximately $300,000 annually to fund the operation operat-ion of the municipal transportation tran-sportation system. Presently, Present-ly, much of that expense is being met by tax dollars. City officials feel the financial finan-cial burden of the system should be born by those who derive the most benefit from the service. Those businesses business-es would include ski resorts, restaurants and lodges. Initially, it was proposed to require a licensing fee based on the gross receipts of businesses. A business deriving deri-ving much benefit from the free bus would pay. a higher percent of gross receipts f an a business benefitting httle from the system. Since businessmen protested protest-ed loudly to the City's general access to their financial records for purpo- . ses of determining the licensing fees, t lie City Conn' -if is now considering basing fees for some businesses busi-nesses on a square footage-basis footage-basis rather than gross receipts. |
