Show IMPERIAL VALLEY CROPS IN DANGER Imperial. Cab, July 28. Residents of the Imperial Valley are greatly wrought up over the irrigation situation situa-tion in connection with the Colorado river which, it Is said, threatens the destruction of a million-dollar cotton crop and a half million dollars worth of other crops In the valley. Threats are heard of an armed uprising of the people of the valley to seize the pile driver and dredge of the Southern South-ern Pacific Railroad company and affiliated af-filiated corporations now lying Idle at tiie intake of the Imperial valley irrigation system and doing the work believed to be necessary to save the crops of the valley. Word was received today that the California-Mexico Land & Cattle Co. had thrown a dam across the Imperial canal, Jn Mexico, to secure additional water for the company's land In that republic and there Immediately followed fol-lowed In the valley threats to invade Mexico and tear out the dam and seize the idle pile driver and dredge for the construction of a levee to , save the crops of the Imperial valley. |
