Show HUGE SUM STOLEN BEYOND RECOVERY NEW YORK. July 27. The "gen-t'enien's "gen-t'enien's agreement" between the Russl-Chineso bank and its missing cashier, Erwin Wider, who is accused of embezzling $i;oo,noo worth of stocks and bonds, expired today when the district attorney's office was requested re-quested to take action and a private detective agency was put on the case. The bank Is now pretty well convinced con-vinced that all the huge sum stoleu has vanished bejond recovery. The story that Wider had a power of attorney at-torney l'rom the. bank finds credence In Wall Street and it was also asserted assert-ed today that many of the certificates be disposed of were still i"n blank when they vanished. If this can be proved 11 will make the task of the recovery from brokers brok-ers additionally difficult. Thus far there Is nothing to indicate that any of the certificates were filled with forged signal n-os. No suits against brokerage houses have been begun. |
