Show NEW RAILROAD TIE A UTAH INVENTION Auother Utah Invention, which gives promise of effecting a revolution revolu-tion In the uso of railroad ties, is about to be exploited In the east. It Is the universal metallic railroad tie. The tie Is constructed practically practical-ly of steel, and does away with the old wooden ties heretofore used entirely en-tirely by the great majority of tho the railroads of the world. The universal univer-sal tlo was Invented by Utah men and has been recently patented. It j has stood the test of closest scrutiny by experienced railroad engineers, and has been pronounced as near perfection per-fection aa It Is possible to make a tie, from tho staudpoluts of utility and durability. For tho purpose of arranging for the manufacture of the tie and to exploit ex-ploit its use generally throughout the country, a company has been Incorporated Incor-porated under tho laws of Rah, and within a few days B. S. .Rupp and Jesse W. Johnson, representing the company, will leave for tho east. These gentlemen expect to visit New York, Washington, Pittsburg and other leading centers, and arrangements ar-rangements will be made to manufacture manufac-ture the tie. probably at Pittsburg. The Invention has been so favorably considered by leading men of this state nnd by prominent engineers and railroad men all over the country that the company Is assured that the tlo can bo placed with the leading railroads of the United States. The question of insulation has been thoroughly thor-oughly solved, and now the tie has ! been placed In such a condition that block signal conned Ions can bo worked with perfect success ou the" now tie. It has been estimated by competent compe-tent engineers that the metallic tie will last from Ave to ten tlmeB longer than the best treated wooden tie now In use, and as Its cost Is only a trifle more than the wooden article. It Is figured that the adoption of the met alllc tie by railroads will effect a saving sav-ing of many times the cost of th tie In uso at present A number of the leading men of the state are Interested In the new invention, and from assurances which bae been received from practical railroad men who have examined tho tie, the success of the project is fully assured. |
