Show Church and the Nation Honor Late Joaquin . Nabuco Washington, Jan. 20 With all the impressiveness and solemnity attending attend-ing the JolDt participation of the ttate, the military and the church, the funeral fun-eral of Joaquin Nabuco, late Brazil-Ian Brazil-Ian ambassador to this capltol, was conducted today at SL Matthews Roman Ro-man Catholic church. The body was escorted to the church by cavalry, artillery nnd a battery of engineers. The honorary pallbearers were Secretary Knox, the Italian, Auntro-Hungnrl.m and French ambassadors, the Portuguese and Chilean Chil-ean ambassadors, Senator Root, Senator Sen-ator Cullom, Associate Justice Holmes, Representative Perkins, Admiral Schley and John Barrett The Fervices at the church were conducted by Manager Falconlo, tho papal delegate, assisted by Manager Lee. President Taft. the members of his cabinet, nearly all of the diplomatic body In Washington and a number of the senators and representatives attended at-tended tho services. At the conclusion of the ceremonies, ceremon-ies, the casket was conveyed to Oak i Hill cemetery, there to remain until ; about the middle of February, when It will be transported on the I'resi- dent's yacht. Ma flower, to Hampton Rends, placed on the cruiser Montana aud conveyed to Rio do Janeiro. j Mine. Nabuco and her family will precede the Montana to Brazil. . ! |
