Show WOMAN CUT WITH A CHISEL George C. Streofer was arrested last evening on the charge of assault with a deadly weapon, but was soon released on his own recognizance, a formal complaint being made against Mm by the county attorney today. The alleged assault was occasioned through some misunderstanding between be-tween Mr. Streeter and Mrs. A. C Riley, both parties living at 129 Stuarts Iano, between Twenty-first and Twenty-second streets, immediately immedi-ately east of Washington avenue, regarding re-garding the vacation of the part of the house occupied by Mrs Riley. Mrs. Riley is a tenaut of Mr. Strcet-er Strcet-er and, according to the storj' told by Mrs. Riley and others, he ordered her to vacate the place a number of days ago, but ebe failed to do. so. Iast evening Mr. Streeter spoke to the lady about the matter aud soon hot words were uttered by both parties. Mrs Riley became angered at what. Streeter said to her and she ordered him to leave the bouse, at the time throwing hot water upon him and striking him in the face with a coffee cof-fee pot. Mr. Streeter had a chisel in his hand nnd. Mrs. Riley says, used it on her. As evidence of the chiseling, Mrs. Riley today exhibits a scalp wound and deep cut on her left hand. The woman states that she had been 111 for a number of days and that it was Impossible for her to move and that she was much aggravated by Mr. Street er's actions. The trouble between the two created cre-ated a small sennitum In the neighborhood neighbor-hood and the oftlcers of the law, together to-gether with a physician, were called to restore peace. |
