Mr. and Mrs. Himes and their daughter were brought (o Salt Lake last night in an automobile secured by Mr. Wllle, and received physician's attention at their apartments at the Tourralne hotel. Mr. Wllle remained with his wife during the night and morning, returning to Salt Lake on the noon train today for the purpose if securing needed supplies. .Mr Hlmes. the guest of Mr. Wllle. is the representative of the Independent Indepen-dent Oil company. Mr. Wille this afternoon stated that the condition of his wife was serious; and it will be Impossible to .move her into town for some time yet. She Salt Lake Route this uflernoon offered to place a special car at the disposal of the injured woman, but under the circumstances cir-cumstances Mr. Wllle was compelled to thank the company and decline the offer. Dr. PInkerton left this afternoon after-noon for Lchl to make an examination; examina-tion; in the meantime the local physician physi-cian stales that Mrs. Wille's chances for recovery are fairly good. Smith at Lehl In a precarious condition, her scalp only held in place by seventy-five stitches of a surgeon's needle, while her husband, hus-band, Mr. aud Mrs. William G. Himcs and their eleven-year-old daughter, Lillian, are all sufferers from more or less serious bruises and sprains. The accident, miraculous In the fact lhat. no fatality resulted, occurred yesterday yes-terday afternoon shortly after I o'clock on the highway near the residence! of George Reck at Lehl Junction, when the five occupants of Mr. Wille's automobile auto-mobile were hnilod with crushing force onto a rocky bottom when the machine turned turtle over an embankment. em-bankment. Tho direct cause of tho accident was the attempt of Mr. Wille lo circle around a wagon driven by a farmer who refused to give roadway. Mr. and Mrs. Wllle. with Mr. and Mrs. Hines and their daughter left Salt Lake yesterday afternoon in Mr. Wille's auto to vlF.it the home of Senator Sen-ator Smith. The afternoon was spent there and the start homeward mado about 4 o'clock. When about five miles this side of Lehi the auto came up with a farmer's wagon, and despite the call of the horn, the farmer refused re-fused to budge from h!s position in tho middle of the toad. Mr. Wille, driving the machine, had slowed down to a speed of about seven miles an hour, and thought he could safely swing around the wagon. At that point the roadway is narrow, an7 on the outer edge, that chosen bv Mr. Wille for the passage, has an embankment of between be-tween four and five feet, the gully bottom being lined with rocks and boulders. Just as the machine breasted the wagon the wheels slid over the embankment em-bankment and the auto toppled over, turning twice in its fall. The occupants occu-pants of the car were first jarred and then hurled from their seats. Mrs Yville, occupying a front seat besi lo her husband, was thrown with head foremost againot the rocks, and with such force that she slid along the bottom bot-tom for a distauce of several feet The force of the impact was such that her ! scalp was almost lltcraily torn off and a number of other serious wounds and injuries inflicted about the head and body. Mr. Wllle was first jammed against the steering wheel, and then thrown out of the car, receiving a "oad bruise in tho chest and a badly wrenched knee. Tho injuries of Mrs. Ilimes and the little girl consisted mainly of severe se-vere bruises about the face and head, although the condition of the girl today to-day has aroused the fear that she may have, suffered an internal injury. Both the mother and daughter have been I confined to thci;- beds since last nlghf, under a physician's care, and during this forenoon the girl has been subject J to recurring vomiting spells. As Mr. Himes was thrown from the car his coat was literally torn to shreds and he fell upon his back, the jagged rocks stripping and tearing the tlesli. The machine lies a total wreck by the roadside. Immediately after the accident help was received and Mrs. Wille was removed re-moved to the residence of George Beck, to where Dr. H. C.
