Show NEW COUNTERFEIT $5 NOTE REPORTED TO SECRET SERVICE Washington, June 1. A new counterfeit coun-terfeit $5 note, so crude in workmanship workman-ship that it cannot escape detection hefore the eyes of a careful handler of money, has just been discovered and reported to the secret service bureau. bu-reau. The note puports to be of the serl3 of 1907, and bears a portrait of Andrew An-drew Jackson. It is a poor photograph photo-graph mechanical production on a single sin-gle piece of paper. No attempt was made to imitate 'the silk threads of the genuine, and all the fine work la badly blurred. The counterfeit first came to the notice no-tice of an employe of the Irlng National Na-tional Bank of New York City, and a report of the matter was sent to Chief Wilkle. An Investigation was at once Inaugurated In the effort to ascertain the source of the spurious money. |
