In that state It was found necessary to control tho sale of cocaine, as tho growth of "dopo fiends" has been alarming, the great majority of degenerates using cocaine. Throe years ago a gang of young men wag broken up in Ogden, after members of the gang had attempted murder, had robbed three or four stores and engaged in Innumerable petty pilfcrings. The youngsters were cocaine fiends. The murderers of Seymour Sey-mour Clark, deputy sheriff of this county, were driven, to their brutal deed by this drug. The power of cocaine has become so alarmingly destructive of moral force among Its users and its victims are growing to such proportions that something some-thing must be done to eradicate the evil. Cocaine Is of no groat benefit to the medical profession. As a local anaesthetic its principal use it is not to be compared with other well-known well-known anaesthetics; in fact, it Is a poison to so many persons that it is now seldom employed for that purpose. Its principal consumption is by "dope fiends." With these facts before them, our national lawmakers should not hesitate to take whatever action may be deemed necessary to restrict the sale of the drug.
