A local inventor in-ventor dropped 3,500 feet in a crippled aeroplano hero today. He was not seriously hurt. The amateur aviator was U. Soren-son, Soren-son, a blacksmith. Sorenson. in view of Feveral hundred fellow townsmen, made the ascent in a balloon, and then attempted to descend In an areoplane that ho had constructed. The rudder worked loose and Sorenson was unable un-able to guide tho mochine. It began to descend at a terrific speed, turning turn-ing over and over as It dropped. The inventor clung tenaciously to the craft and when it struck the ground he was in a sitting position and nut badly hurt. |
