Ogden Meeting. Welsh, Williams, Warner and Doty testified as to what took place at j meetings of the members of the Ug-den Ug-den local of the Brotherhood of Railroad Rail-road Trainmen held April 10 and 14 at Ogden. Mr. AVlUiams said that Mr. Sherman and Mr. Moore both were present at the meeting of April 14, and that Mr, Sherman had asked him to put a motion, as chairman of the meeting, that tho Southern Pacific) roadmen would not take out trains' made up by officials "or other unfair labor." and that he refused to put the matter to a vote, but adjourned the meeting. He testified that Mr. Sherman, Sher-man, Mr. Moore and Mr. Lemon ajso spoke at a meeting of the members of the brptherhood held at Ogden on Aprjl 10. They urged support of the switchmen's, strike, he eaid Car Repairers. Mr. Cox, testifying as to a meeting of car repairers held at Musicians' hall April 13. said that Mr. Wise, in making an address, said he had traveled trav-eled all over the country in the interest in-terest of labor and had been arrested several times, and that he was not afrajd of being arrested for his part In the switchmen's strike. He recounted re-counted that Sherman told the repairmen repair-men that the switchmen would bo glad to have them "take a vacation" at this time, If they saw fit, and that the speakers from the switchmen gen erally auvocaieu "one big union" of railroad workers. Mr. Knickerbocker testified as to the number of switchmen who Joined the strike from the Oregon Short Line yards, and- Mr. Slattery gavo similar testimony as to the number of men who went out at the Denver & Rio Grande yards. Special Agent Jackson related a conversation which he says he had with Mr. Moore' and Mr. Lemon on April 19,' at which time, he says, they admitted having taken an active part in getting out a circular urging railroad rail-road employes to unite for tho purpose pur-pose of forcing a granting of higher wages and belter working conditions. . ,M |
