Show JOTEjN D0lI1 DOVER. Del.. May 6. Despite the efforts of anti-suffragists to force a vote In the lower hous? of the Delaware Dela-ware legislature today on the resolution resolu-tion to ratify the federal suffrage amendment, adjournment was taken until May 17th without any action on tho measure. Suffrage leaders admitted admit-ted they lack at least three votes to pass tho measure in the house at this time. The refusal of the senate, which yesterday yes-terday passed the measure, to messngo it to the house and the presentation of a concurrent resolution from the upper branch calling for a ten-day recess re-cess created one of the most spirited fights of the special session, charges being made that the delay was "for no other reason than to buy, bribe and cajole members of the house into voting vot-ing for suffrage.1' The charges were made by Representative McNcbb, Democrat, of Wilmington, who declared declar-ed that he knew of at least one member mem-ber of tho house who had been approached. |
