Show LABOR DA! PARADE li POGATELLO, IDAHO (Special to the Standard.) POCATELLO. Ida., Aug. 26. Local labor unions are planning for a big demonstration here on Labor day next months. As far as the plans have matured, ma-tured, the program will include a big parade participated in by union labor which will pass through the streets of the west side business district, then cross the viaduct and march to the court house. Present plans call for nn address on labor and democracy by the "noted" A. C. Townley, head of the non-partisan league movement in the county. According to the reception tendered Mr. Townley in Boise Friday night, his appearance in this city will doubtless doubt-less prove a big drawing card for Labor La-bor day. In Boise the non-partisan leader was not permitted to speak in any of the public buildings, and it was after 10 o'clock In the evening before he finally found a place where he could talk to a throng of several hundred hun-dred people, many of whom threatened violence if the leader was permitted to talk. Tho sheriff of Ada county, Em-mot Em-mot Pfost, finally verbally deputized every one in the crowd to preserve peace, before the speaker went ahead with his address. In the evening of Labor day a grand labor ball will bo given in the Mc-Nichols Mc-Nichols & Wright hall. |
