Show SPARROWS ARE TO BE FOUGHT AGAINST Few members of the feathered flock in Utah, who have rendered assistance to the fanners by their war upon the insects and bugs as well as those birds such as the hawks and owls that have lived on tho bodies of gophers, goph-ers, squirrels and field mice killed by the farmers, have been killed them selves. Tho farmers realize that the' members of the feathered families are friends and not enemies to the food producers upon the farm. The above is the observance of B. B. Richars. of the biological division of the department of agriculture for the state, who has completed a tour of Utah, leading in the war which is being be-ing waged on the rodents. One member of the feathered family fam-ily which is on the blacklist as far as ravages against the food situation is the English sparrow, which in the past has been guilty of the destruction of much food. Tho sparrow will bo signaled sig-naled out in a campaign which will be inaugurated later. Shortly after the first fall of snow, the campaign r against these birds will be launched. It is said that the delay in the fight upon the birds Is duo to the fact that the officials desire to, protect the migratory mi-gratory birds. |
