Depot company, com-pany, 'pleaded guilty in municipal court to the charge of taking a quantity quan-tity of liquors from a box car on Dec. IS. They were assessed fines of $10 and costs, each. "I realize to an extent that you young men committed an act, the seriousness ser-iousness of which you did not realize," said the court. "Therefore I am making mak-ing the punishment light. A repetition, however, will be punished severely. Men of your character and reputation and earning capacities should be more thoughtful and set examples for others " Prominent attorneys appeared for the defendants and entered their pleas of guilty. They explained that they were railroad men, residing in Ogden and that the theft was perpetrated much in the same spirit that one might confiscate a watermelon. Detective J. L. Ilobson. who with Special Agent Condon, of the Southern Pacific, made the arrests, also appeared in quasi-de-fense of the accused. He stated, their conduct always had been good until this incident. oo i |
