Show UU MAY HAVE VALUABLE ENGINE OF WARFARE POCATELLO. Ida.. Dec. 17, If experiments ex-periments being made by A. C. Carlson, Carl-son, an electrician of this city, should prove successful, he will be able to offer of-fer the government an engine of destruction de-struction which will literally burn up the hordes of the German army. The idea upon which Carlson has been working is based on the well- r.. known fact that a fire can readily be B started as a result of focusing the sun's rays through an ordinary mag- f nifylng glass. It is proposed to ton- struct nnd mount on a suitable car-"- riage a large device of this kind equip-ped equip-ped with a series- of powerful lenses. It is claimed that under proper condi- tions the rays from such a weapon could be thrown long distances like those from a mammoth searchlight, and that they -would not only be dead- ly to human life, but would also set f ' fire quickly to buildings upon which u . they were concentrated. - IT Carlson has enlisted and hopes to have the opportunity of continuing(his T experiments under the supervision of e-army e-army engineers.
