Show ""Ss! Si ARMY WASHINGTON. Dec. 18 Provost Marshal General Crowder yesterday issued to governors new rules under which men under draft age may join the colors at their own request. White men only will be taken and they may enlist only in tho infantry, signal corps, medical corps and quartermaster's quartermas-ter's department. Supply conditions are -such, General Crowder said, that no man can be accepted in the coast artillery, field artillery, cavalry or engineer's en-gineer's corps. Volunteer enlistments in the regular army by men of draft age ended at noon last Saturday, and they may be inducted into service now only through their local boards. General Crowder's telegram specified speci-fied these camps to which men accepted accept-ed to the special services opened to them may be sent: Aviation section, signal corps, to Kelly Field, San Antonio, Tex.; land division, signal corps, Fort Leavenworth. Leaven-worth. Kan.; medical department to medical officers' training camp Fort Riley, Kan., by local boards west of the Mississippi river and to the medical medi-cal officers' training camp, Fort Oglethorpe, Ogle-thorpe, Ga., by boards east of the Mississippi; Mis-sissippi; quartermaster corps, Camp Joseph E. Johnston, Jacksonville, Fla.; ordnance department, Rarlten depot, Rariten, N. J.; infantry to Fort McDowell, Cal , by local boards of Pacific Pa-cific coast states and to Camp Greene, S. C, by all other boards. Transportation and subsistence expanse ex-panse to the enraps are to be furnished volunteers by the local board. oo |
