The senate rejected the amendment of Senator FrellnghUysen of New Jer-sey Jer-sey to restrict suffrage to men and women who have acquired citizenship by birth or naturalization, tabling his amendment by a vote of 50 to 33. The senate also rejected 6-1 to IT, an jH amendment by Senator Fletcher of Florida designed to apply the resolu-tion's resolu-tion's prohibition against abridgment of the franchise because of sex to the federal government only. Calling of the final roll on adoption of the resolution began in the senate IH at 3:40 o'clock. oo |
