"Dear Folks: "I arrived safely over here and en-Joyed en-Joyed the trip very much and am feeling feel-ing fine. It has been a month sinco I left Camp Kearny so you see wo have had some trip. We were in a rest camp in England for a few days. We saw quite a bit of England but expect to sec a good deal of France before we get through. We arrived here August 29 and are camped in a nice little French village. Our band came yesterday and gave a concert last night. They sure livened things up here. Ail the French people in the village turned out. I didn't know that there were so many people in this town until they heard the band playing. play-ing. My platoon sergeant told me this morning that I had been appointed by our captain to have charge of nn automatic au-tomatic riflo squad. All the men in our division are anxious to get a crack at the Boches before It is over They arec ertainly some husky bunch. "Well folks, 1 don't know what more to write about I could tell you a great deal more but I mustn't you know, and you can got more war news out of the papers than I can tell you. The people over here treat. us fine and seem to think lots of Uncle Sam's soldiers. sol-diers. Tho French girls are teaching us to speak French.
