Show L0HI8 E. BATES IS ilMERSEAS Louis E. Bates, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Bates of Hooper, a quartermaster quartermas-ter in Company 115. of tho Fortieth or "Sunshino" division has arrived overseas over-seas accordlns to information received from abroad by the parents. The young man left Ogden. May 27, last for Camp Lowis, where he remained for two weeks and then was sent to Camp Kearny, where he remained for two weeks arid then was sent to Camp Kearny. From the .California camp he went to Camp Mills, New York, from which place he sailed for France August Aug-ust 15. In a letter to his parents written on board the transport he said that when he first saw the transports In tho harbor har-bor at Now York, he thought he would eujoy the trip upon them, but after a few days out he decided that he would rather ride upon the train. He also learned that the life in the army looked look-ed better to him than that in the naw. The first day at sea, Bates said that he was a little dizzy but that soon passed away and he was feeling fine at the time of writinc tho letter. |
