No attention was given to an,y influence influ-ence except developments bearing on the possible ending of the war. Much of the pressure to get rid of holdings was snid to come from rural sources. Opening prices which ranged from Hlc decline to lc advance with Oc-jtober Oc-jtober $1.36 to 1.37 Vs and November $1.3216 to 1.33V4, were followed by sh:irn hrpakR nil nrnnnrl hnt flmn something of a rally. Oats paralleled the action of corn. Commission houses did most of the selling. After opening unchanged to r;kc lower with October 70 to 70V6C, the market despite rallies underwent a decided general setback. Weakness in provisions resulted from the. fresh break In grain values. Trading Trad-ing though, was small. As on previous days of late the chief buying of corn Avas on the part of shorts who were in a position to collect col-lect profits. Accordingly upturns were not maintained. Tho close was unsettled un-settled 2 to 3c net lower with October Oc-tober $1.33 to 1.33JA and November $1.30 to 1.31.
