Iowa went over the top tonight in the fourth Liberty loan campaign, cam-paign, it was officially announced at the headquarters of the Seventh federal fed-eral reserve district. Unofficially it was claimed that Iowa was the first state in the Union to complete its quota. quo-ta. Iowa is preparing to claim the honor of being tho first state in the Union to fill Its quota for the fourth Liberty loan. Later afternoon reports showed the state had secured subscriptions of 5110,000,000 and this total did not Include In-clude returns from many counties which are expected to put the state over the top. "As soon as wo get complete returns I think Xhey will show that Iowa will have reached its quota some time today," to-day," said C. H. McNider, Polk county, coun-ty, of which Des Moines is the leading lead-ing city, started its subscription campaign cam-paign today and half Its quota was raised by noon. It is estimated S15.000.000 has been subscribed in Chicago but several Illinois Illi-nois counties have raised their quotas. Indiana is making rapid headway and ! those Michigan counties which are inclined in-clined to lag during the last loan are exceeding all expectations. no |
