Show FUNERAL SERVICES AT TABERNACLE FOR LELANDDREIR Funeral services for Alexander Le-land Le-land Brewer will be held in tho tabernacle, taber-nacle, Thursday afternoon, at 2 o'clock. The body will arrive from Chicago tomorrow to-morrow at 1:15 p. m. on Union Pacific Pa-cific train No. 9. It will be taken to the hope, 2131 Jefferson avenue, where It will lie In state Thursday morning. The father will return this afternoon. Out of regard for 'the request of President Wilson, the parents have requested re-quested that no flowers be sent and there be no mourning. The speakers at the funeral will be Professor James L. Barker, former principal of the Weber acudemy and teacher and adviser of the young man, and Apostle David O. McKay. The music at the services Is being arranged ar-ranged by E. T. Saunders, Walter Stephons and Miss Mildred Ware. Arrangements are being mado to have the young men of Ogden in the navy, who are on furloughs In the city, attend the services. Leland Brewer was a student at Stanford university and later went to the Chicago university, which he was attending at the time United States entered the war. He made an effort to enlist in the navy, but was rejected reject-ed on account of some temporary trouble trou-ble with his eyes. He came to Ogden and was the first applicant for a position posi-tion at the federal employment office in Ogden. He secured a position Avith the shipbuilding corporation at Washington, Wash-ington, where he remained until June of this year when, be finally succeeded in enlisting in the navy. The youn sailor became 21 years of age on February 14, 1918. I Farewell Letter. The following farewefl nicssago from Leland was received by the. family today: to-day: "Chicago, 111., Sept. 7, 191S. "Dear Mr. and Mrs. Brewer: One of our secretaries visited your son, Leland Le-land in the main hospital, Unit 14, and wishes to convey this message from him to you: "This finds me sick in the hospital with Influenza. Have been sick ten days. I do not know how serious. I have quite a little fever and am very weak. I have very good care. They have given me tw.o ice baths. Have not been out of bed or would have written. I do not want this to worry you but thought I should let you know. Have received only two or three let-j let-j tors since coming here.
