Show uu CALL ROOSEVELT AND ROOT President E. G. Peterson, of the Utah Agricultural college, has just received re-ceived an invitation, at the request of Theodore Roosevelt, to be present at a nation-wide demonstration and mass meeting In the interest of national na-tional defense and the support of President Wilson, to be held in Chicago, Chi-cago, on the evening of April 28. Colonel Roosevelt will be the principal prin-cipal speaker of the evening. Governor Gover-nor Lowden will preside. Once more Colonel Roosevelt has crept into our affections. He is the type of leader 'this country at present needs. He has energy, sees clearly the great necessity of wide-sweeping preparedness and has the 'power of language with which to stir his countrymen. Once more we are with Theodore Roosevelt in devotion to country and resolve to make the nation fully realize real-ize how great is the necessity for mobilizing all our resources. Another man whom we have been forced to differ from is Elihu Root. He, too, has our admiration. Report has it that President Wilson is to select se-lect him as the head of a mission to go to Russia, Excellent Idea. Former For-mer Senator Root, in this crisis, has shown grasp of the situation, and he has stood for vigorous action. His great leadership should be made to serve the government at this time. Our President should bring Roosevelt Roose-velt and Root Into the councils of the nation, for two more versatile, energetic, en-ergetic, resourceful men are not to bo found. |
