Barker demonstrated hearty approval of the state law forbidding the transporting of liquor from "wet" into "dry" territory terri-tory this morning, when he sentenced Samuel Allen of Huntsville to pay a fine of $299 or to serve six months in the county Jail. Allen pleaded guilty to a complaint charging that he had taken a gallon of whisky from Ogden to Huntsville, but claimed lie was not aware of the nature of the contents of the demijohn, tho carrying of which, into Ogden valley, brought about his arrest by Deputy Sheriff Arthur Grow. In passing sentence Judge Barker stated that, while he sympathized with the defendant because of the punishment punish-ment he would be required to stand, he was determined to enforce the li-i quor law and to drastically punish all offenders, hoping thus to lesson the number of offenses that might be committed. com-mitted.
