Sixteen volunteers out of seventy-six were rejected by Dr. Christofferson in tho examinations Saturday night, because be-cause they could not meet fully the rigorous physical requirements of the war department. The various defects included poor eyesight, a defective finger, fin-ger, a stiff knee, all being small Imperfections, Im-perfections, but sufficient to disqualify disqual-ify the applicant. The fact was made plain that to win membership in one of these troops the applicant must be physically perfect, capable of being trained into a first-class cavalryman. |
