Show ITER PRICES FIXED By CUT BOARD ME 100 HIGH Two cents per square yard was fixed by the city commission last night as the special rate for irrigation of gardens gar-dens for family use. Two children in each family may have water for two square rods free, for home garden purposes. Commissioner M. L. Jones said the former rate was 3 1-2 cents. He considered con-sidered as generous the reduction to two cents. Mr. Jones also said today the city would allow the use of its shares in the Bench canal at the five-cent rate and that each share was good for a square rod. The two-cent rate for gardens figures fig-ures out at $104 per acre, which Is regarded as prohibitive by persons who are planning gardens of one acre or more in size within the city limits. In Southern California, water for irrigation irri-gation purposes, when available, is generally sold at 50 cents per acre foot. Asked whether the morning paper compelled the coal dealers, of whom he is one, to reduce the price of fuel, Commissioner Jones denied the allegation, alle-gation, saying the newspapers had nothing to do with the reduction as far as he knew. nn |
