Show oo . MUSHERS OFF ON LONG DOG RACE NOME, Alaska, April 9. The tenth annual all-Alaska sweepstakes dog team race over a course of 412 milos started thla morning at 9 o'clock with four teams entered. The Bowon-Dol-zone team, driven by Fay Delzone, was off first -and was tho first to reach Solomon, covoring tho thirty-two miles in 3 hours and 42 minutes. Leonard Seppala, Paul KJegstad and Martin Anderson wore the other starters in the order named, Sappala was the second to arrive in Solomon and Anderson An-derson third. The weather here at the start of tho raco was clear, with the trails in first-class first-class condition. When the teams arrived ar-rived at Solomon there was a high wind blowing. Tho race Is run from Nome to Candle, Can-dle, on Kotzebue sound, and return. |
