Show OVERTON OF YALE FINE TRACK MAN Latest Triumph in National A. A. U. Championship Indoor Games Made Record of 2:15 1-5. New York, April 1. Among track enthusiasts throughout the country John W. Overton of Yale, will be closely close-ly watched this spring, for many believe be-lieve he is likely to prove as good a college runner in the middle distances as the country has even seen. Overton has an impressive record for the fall and winter. His first feat which attracted wide attention was the winning of the cross-country championship cham-pionship at Boston In splendid time. C games In Philadelphia, Overton did the last half of the two-mile relay for Yale. Without any one to press him, he lan his half In i 56 2-5 on a ten-lap track The following Wednesday he met Dave Caldroll, former Cornell star, hwo had been winning middle distance races all winter with monotonous regularity. Overton won that race in 3 07 1-5 His latest triumph was his victory in the 1000-yard run at the National A A U chajnplonshlp indoor games. Here he equalled the world record of 2.15 1-5, established by Abel KivlaL Overton times his training so he will be on edge for the intercollegiate A. A. A. A. championships May 2C-27, Instead of for the Harvard-Yalo meet, two weeks earlier. Overton Is built on much the same lines as George Brown, captain of the Yale 1914 team, who did 1 54 for the half.
