Show NICHOLASo TREWEEK DIES IN NEW YORK Salt Lake, Nov. 9. Colonel Nicholas Nicho-las Treweok, for many years a prominent promi-nent figure among local mining men died at 0 o'clock yesterday morninc at the Polyclinic hospital in New Yorir City, where he underwent an operation opera-tion for throat trouble on October 30 News of his death came as a shock to bis relatives and friends here, as it had previously been reported that hp was recovering, tlwugh the operation had been a serious oue Colonel Treweek had beeu away from Salt Lake for more than a venr though the members of his family still reside here. The family residence J at 6Gft Ninth avenue Recently he had been handling his mining oDera-tions oDera-tions from New York city. Nicholas Treweek was born '- Devonshire, England, in 1850. nml came to the United Staes when 1t was 20 years of age. He resided in Pennsylvania for a few years ami then came to Utah. He became connected con-nected with the mining business r soon as he came to this country, and vas identified with mining project in many parts of tho west. He wa interested in the Wabash propertv ;t Park City, the Lucky Boy in Custer county, Idaho, and also In propertl1" in the Big Cottonwood district nn' In several Canadian camps. Colonel Treweek was a thirtv-spr-ond degree Mason, a Shriner, a Knight Templar, a member of the Blnp lodge and a charter meember of thp Salt Lake lodge of Elks. Surviving him are his widow, Mm Margaret Treweek; a brother, John Tre'week, and the following sons nml daughters: William Samuel, Morrlc Mrs. J. L. Burch, Ruth and Franklin Treweek, all of Salt Lake. nn |
