Show 00 HEROISM OF THE GERMANS. There is ono impressive tiling about the German offensive. When the battalions of the Kaiser start a drive, nothing short of impregnable trenches trench-es and a curtain of fire stops them. Austrian forces unaided crossed the Danube in the early part of the war, but they did not pierce the mountain passes south of Belgrade. They were thrown back and completely routed. When the Germans undertook the task, the Servian line broke and there was no stopping the invaders. Russia's drive in the Carpathians was not stopped until the Germans undertook the task of expelling the Czar's armies. No fighting organization has shown the same dash in attack as the Germans, Ger-mans, with the possible exception of tho French.
